Wear Orange Day

Why we wear Orange ?

Though teal is the official color that represents cervical cancer we chose to add a bit of Orange to represent our organization! Orange has been said to be a healing color. It has also been said that wearing orange during times of stress, or shock can help to balance your emotions. It can bring about the willingness to embrace new ideas with enjoyment. Orange is also the color associated with the Sacral Hara Chakra (sexuality and reproduction).

For the first time, it’s possible to eradicate cervical cancer, the number two cancer killer of women worldwide! Often, cervical cancer is a silent predator that robs women of their identity, fertility, intimate relationships and too often, their lives. While doctors may be successful at telling patients how to cure the cancer, they often forget to tell our mothers, sisters, daughters, aunts, cousins and friends how to live through and after. This doesn’t have to be the case. Cervical cancer is nearly 100 percent PREVENTABLE and nearly 100 percent CURABLE if caught early. We know the cause of this cancer, have tools for early detection, and a vaccine to prevent it. Lack of education and screening are the major culprits for so many women suffering from this disease. But you can make a difference!

Every January for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month join us in wearing Orange to bring awareness to this preventable disease!

Also, schedule your pap, ask about the HPV test, research the vaccine and tell your friends what you know!

Take a photo proudly wearing your orange and send it to info@tamikaandfriends.org!
